As my last blog post explained I am joining in with an 30 paintings in 30 days art challenge. Something I have been really looking forward to. I completed day 1 and painting 1 feeling pleased and ready to enjoy all the joys and no doudt frustrations this painting challenge would bring with it. Then life and my health, as it so often does got in the mixer and stopped me in my tracks, before I even got properly started. Preventing me from painting every day as I had planned.
Now it is day 6 and the last 5 days have been a roller coaster of highs and lows. I was floored by mirgrane and having to medal with my medications and then my heart breaking at having to say good bye to my 11 year old Westie Max. Which has hit me so much more than I was expecting or ready for.
Then for a change I got the best results possible for me at my heart scan on yesterday. I say for me because I still have to deal with the fun and games of anti coagulation drugs, but my valve is much better than it was six months ago at the last scan which is a brilliant and unexpected outcome.
Today after a very long sleep and waking up in a horribly quiet house and realising there were lots of things I didn’t need to do anymore, as they were all connected to looking after my dog. I knew I could do one of two things, stay in bed and cry all day or paint.
So of course I decided to paint.
I decided that I might not be able to paint once a day for 30 days, as maybe life or health or both will get in the way again during the challenge, but that doesn’t mean I can’t still try to do 30 paintings in 30 days, it just might mean I will have to more than 1 on some of the days. So today I played catch up by doing five paintings.
I started by finishing 2 paintings that I had started last month but not gone back to and then by doing 3 little paintings. Using oils paints for all 5. OMG the more Ì play with oils the more I love them and can’t believe I was too scared to try them till this year.
I know this last one looks and is unfinished but it has just made me feel better to include it – and I will come back to it at some point during the challenge.
